Late last year, we reported that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon had suffered a “minor stroke”. Today, word is that Sharon has again suffered a stroke, but this time, it’s “not so minor”, as well as a cereberal hemorrage.
According to the Jerusalem Post, Sharon was brought to Haddassah Hospital, “suffering from paralysis in his lower body” (JPost). He has been taken into the care of Dr. Shlomo Mor-Yosef.
Addressing reporters in English, Mor-Yosef said Sharon had “massive bleeding and was being transferred to an operating theater.” (MSNBC)
PM Sharon’s stroke falls at a critical time on the Israeli road to peace. Only months ago, Sharona nnounced he was leaving his party to form the Kadima party. Elections are scheduled to take place in March, with Sharon up for re-election.
